        Thank you for your interest in my furniture. I hope that this catalog will serve as a good resource for English and Country French furniture of the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century. With good antique pieces becoming increasingly scarce, and with prices becoming increasingly prohibitive, well made reproductions are emerging as attractive, functional, durable and affordable alternatives.

        My interest in furniture making started as a way to fulfill the need for well-made furniture of classic design. Mass production doesn?t do justice to my furniture, and for this reason I have a small shop. Using both new and old, reclaimed timber, each piece of furniture is hand-crafted utilizing ?Old World? techniques. By building every piece to order, from start to finish, I am able to manage each step and detail with the deliberate care it requires.

        ?Hand-crafted? is a term that is all too often stretched to the point of meaninglessness these days. Mass produced and machine made components are often assembled by hand and billed as handmade. My concept of the term is somewhat different. On my furniture, any carving is done with a chisel and mallet; turnings are done one at a time by hand on a lathe; and every dovetail is individually laid out, cut, and fitted, using saws and chisels. Nothing is subcontracted. From selecting rough lumber to the final waxing, each step is done in house and by hand.

        All the handwork in these pieces is laborious and expensive, but I feel it is justified to produce quality furniture in the manner of the original craftsmen. There are enough people who are too eager to cut corners wherever they can; my goal is always to build furniture of uncompromised integrity. I sincerely believe that it is possible, even in this day and age, to hand-craft furniture that commands the same attention and has the same presence as the original, and I strive for that with every piece I build.
